No es considera obra de sant Bernat. S'havia atribuït a Thomas de Froidmont (Viller (1937-1995), Dictionnaire de spiritualité, XV, p. 783). Segons McGovern-Mouron (2000), "'Listen to me, daughter, listen ...", fou escrita entre 1150-1222 per un clergue coneixedor de la regla agustiniana.
