Comentaris
Metge (cirurgià) jueu oriünd de Girona. L'aljama d'aquesta ciutat l'eximí d'algunes càrregues per facilitar-li la dedicació a la seva professió (Rubió, 1909). Fill del també cirurgià Vidal Cabrit I (fl. 1358) i germà de Bonjuhà Cabrit (m. ante 1385). Casat amb la dona Sarixa, fou pare de tres fills Jucef Saltell Cabrit (fl. 1382 – 1383), cirurgià, Vidal Cabrit (fl. s. XIV-2), físic-cirurgià, i Bellaire. Exercí a Girona, Barcelona i Tàrrega. Participà com a perit en processos judicials (Jáuregui Álvarez 2017). De la mateixa manera que altres practicants de la medicina jueus, desenvolupà una important activitat creditícia (Ferragud 2005). L'any 1362 aparegué esmentat com a cirurgià de la casa reial. Aquest mateix any rebé de mans de Bonadona (esposa de Mossé Desportal) (fl. 1362) un volum del llibre del Cànon d'Avicenna. El 1385 tingué relació amb el físic de Barcelona Vidal Descortal, aleshores resident a Castellnou d'Arri (França). Va residir a Barcelona i a Tàrrega. Trobant-se en aquesta vila, el seu germà Bonjuhà Cabrit el nomenà procurador seu. Va morir a Barcelona poc abans del 1389. En un litigi entre jueus consta la seva esposa com a vídua (Cardoner, 1956). — Formes antigues del nom: «Saltell Cabrit» (llatí).

The small images on the decorative ribbon correspond, from left to right, to the following documents: 1. James II orders the settlement of neighborhood disputes over an estate of the royal doctor Arnau de Vilanova in the city of Valencia. 1298 (ACA); 2. Contract between Guglielmo Neri de Santo Martino, a surgeon from Pisa, and the physician-surgeon from Majorca Pere Saflor, bachelor of medicine, to practise medicine and surgery under the latter’s direction, 1356 (ACM); 3. Valuation of the workshop of Guillem Metge, an apothecary from Barcelona, made by the apothecaries Miquel Tosell, Berenguer Duran and Vicenç Bonanat, for its sale to Llorenç Bassa, a fellow apothecary, 1364 (AHPB); 4.
