Noble aragonès, camarlenc del rei Pere III el Cerimoniós (1319 – 1387). Conegut com Lope de Gurrea 'el Major', fou fill i hereu de Miguel de Gurrea (m. 1335), qui va ser nodrís o preceptor de l'infant Pere, després Pere III el Cerimoniós (1319 – 1387).

James II orders the settlement of neighborhood disputes over an estate of the royal doctor Arnau de Vilanova in the city of Valencia. 1298 (ACA); 2.
