Metge (físic), natural de Pàdua. Membre d'una nissaga de metges originària de Constantinoble que emigrà a Itàlia a finals del s. XIII. Professor a Pàdua i a Pavia. Fou autor de comentaris al Liber Almansoris de Rasis, als Aforismes d'Hipòcrates i al llibre IV del Canon d'Avicenna (febres). El seu germà Giovanni (m. Pàdua, d. 1389) fou professor a Pàdua i a Bolonya, i autor de comentaris escolàstics i d'un consilium contra la pesta. El fill d'aquest, Galeazzo (m. Pàdua, 1427), fou professor a Pàdua i a Viena, on serví el duc d'Àustria, i autor d'un antidotari. — Formes antigues del nom: «Marsilius de Sancta Sophia» (llatí).
