Poeta, teòleg i astròleg jueu portuguès. Fou autor de moltes obres, principalment filosòfiques (ètica, lògica, etc.), no totes conservades, i també d'una traducció a l'hebreu, datada l'any 1338, d'Alchanus, De pelle serpentis XII experimenta, Traductor: Johannes Paulinus amb el títol Ma'amar bi-segullot ‘or hanahash. — Alguns investigadors (Steinschneider 1893: 806; Gross 1897: 471; Sarton 1927-1948: III, 451; etc.), tenint en compte que l'hebreu 'Yom Ṭov' equival al romanç 'Bonjorn', van identificar-lo amb el nord-català David ben Yom Ṭov del Barri (ante 1300 – ante 1361), hipòtesi avui descartada (Bos et al. 2005: 15).
