Se incide en estas notas sobre la persona de Manuel Diez (de Vilanova), distinguiéndola de su hijo y homónimo Manuel Diez (de Calatayud), se aporta una serie de datos genealógicos de la familia Diez, y se apunta la posibilidad de la existencia de otro Rodrigo Diez intercalado entre los antepasados directos del personaje. Se dan las claves para desenmarañar la accidentada sucesión de la baronía de Andilla.
