L'article ofereix un estudi i l'edició del prefaci de Pere Riu al seu comentari del salm 50 (Barcelona, Biblioteca de Catalunya, ms. 1031, f. 9r-10r). El contingut teològic d'aquest prefaci, que està adreçat a un "senyor duc" (segurament l'infant Joan d'Aragó) i es pot datar als anys 70 del segle XIV, pot aportar llum sobre l'educació de Joan I.
